We are extremely proud of our counselling service at Infinity. We are unique in our approach to therapy and unlike most other organisations have no time limits to our support. We feel it can take the client a little while to feel comfortable with their counsellor so we ensure the process is natural and at the pace required by the client. All sessions are free of charge.
When supporting someone with a mental health condition, we feel it is important to be able to provide both practical and emotional support. If someone is struggling with a bereavement for example, this may bring with it a whole host of other worries such as debt, housing etc. The individual is not able to fully focus on their therapy as the other worries and impending consequences are at the forefront of their mind. Each client who accesses counselling is also allocated a key worker to assist them with practical matters and where necessary support them between the weekly counselling meetings. Many of the volunteer support workers themselves have been through difficult periods in their life, overcoming complexities and mental health so they understand first-hand what the client is going through and many describe volunteering as giving back and therapeutic in itself.
Since 2019 Tameside & Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group commissioned us to extend our service. We had planned to operate from a second base in Tameside but owing to Coronavirus restrictions we have had to put these plans on hold. We have however created a new remote service so fortunately we have been able to support even more people during 2020 / 2021
We are currently only able to offer remote counselling over the phone or video conference.

We understand that although our careers can bring us job satisfaction, there are times when our work and life feels a little harder than usual and talking about this even just over a cup of tea can feel like a weight has been lifted off our shoulders.
We are committed to helping other organisations to support their workforce by offering confidential sessions to staff which can be delivered in person or remotely.
If you are an organisation who feels we may be able to support your workforce please contact us to discuss options. Info@infinitycic.uk
If you are a team member from one of our approved partners and would like to book a session please contact us below.
We are delighted to introduce you to Emily who is our new Pet Bereavement Counsellor.
The effects of losing a pet is often underestimated and we tend to sometimes feel the need to play down how we are feeling when we really shouldn't. This is a very upsetting time in our lives. Losing a pet can make the home and ourselves feel empty, our sense of purpose may feel like it has gone and we may feel like we have no-one to talk to.
We want to promise you that we are here for you. We understand. We care.
Before training as a counsellor Emily achieved her degree in Equine Science (Behaviour and Welfare) and her thesis was in horse owners experience in equine euthanasia. Her studies in this area were celebrated and presented at conferences in the UK and in Poland. As a animal lover and owner herself Emily understands how heartbreaking it can be to say goodbye. This service is open to owners of all pets.
