Addressing Inequalities & Promoting Positive Change

Calling all independent retailers

Partner with us

We are proud to bring to Tameside a high street voucher scheme that will support those living in poverty locally and support the local economy. We are really passionate about supporting you, our friends, our neighbours and your businesses.  That's why this scheme is exclusive to independent traders only.

How will it work?

We need to move fast. Stage 1 is underway and we have until end March 2021 to roll this out. During this time we will issue vouchers to the people we are supporting and they will be advised where they can be used. Traders will take a note of the voucher number and use this to invoice us.

You can invoice us daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly - thats entirely up to you. This will be done via a simple method via the website.

The cut off for payment requests will every Friday at 6pm. Payments will be processed and you are guaranteed the funds in your account in 2 working days.

We are hopeful this will bring further trade to you both now and in the future.

High Street Scheme

Our reasoning

Our proposal is two-fold…to support the most vulnerable in our community across the winter months and to build community cohesion and resilience to prevent as much vulnerability in the future across Tameside residents.

We work with a vast array of people with different needs but cutting through most is poverty and mental health whether that be with care leavers, homelessness, refugees, no recourse to public funds, mental health patients, families and the elderly to name but a few.

We provide individuals with full wrap around support providing advice and guidance, 1:1 coaching and counselling. In addition, we source food, fuel, clothing, furniture and soft furnishings. Now more than ever this service is needed and our referrals are growing by the day. During the winter months, bedding, curtains and decent outdoor wear and shoes can make all the difference. Especially to those will poor health and those used to warmer climates. Whilst this work is necessary, we do have limited capacity and we feel our time is best spent providing advocacy and professional support. This work is extremely time consuming and made harder in the current climate where we have to be careful about the number of people involved in transactions, donations and deliveries.

We have learned over the years that although people are very grateful for our support and us sourcing the items for them through our many channels, individuals would prefer to be able to source them themselves. Of course, handing over cash would be too difficult to manage so after consulting with clients and various independent retailers such as butchers, grocers, bakers, market traders and charity shops we have devised a simple voucher scheme that would allow recipients to shop local to source essentials for themselves and their families. The benefits to the individual are numerous. This allows them to keep their dignity and pride, it gives them ownership and responsibility, it allows choice, it builds relations within the local community and it allows them to input into the local economy which will in turn create employment opportunities.
